** spoiler alert ** Saint Valentine’s Day has come and gone but there’s no reason why love can’t be in the air every day of the year. Sherry Gloag’s tale is part of an anthology of stories that each feature the match of an unlikely couple; Gloag’s story starts nearly a month before Valentine’s Day, when a Senior Cupid Extraordinaire receives his assignment, to join a specific couple before midnight on the day.
In The Wrong Target, Cupid hits exactly that – his arrow strikes not the easy, comfortable lover destined for the heroine, Tina, but a man who seems her antagonist in every way, Ryan. Love weaves its spell on them, however, and they find they cannot stop thinking of each other, even though they profess to be angry and annoyed, and don’t give their hearts a chance.
One extraneous scene, a few minor inconsistencies, and some backward cause and effect sentences (“when she remained silent, he wasn’t sure whether his heart skipped with fright or relief”) that could have used another round of edits, weren’t enough to keep me from enjoying the suspense, wondering how and when Tina and Ryan would get together.
Sprinkled here and there are some wonderfully original descriptions, such as “the unintended insult slapped at her composure. On top of the day’s combined incidents, it nailed her morale to the floor.” The tale moves quickly, and the situation is very believable, with an unexpected twist near the end involving Ryan’s daughter. The symbols of Valentine’s Day – especially cupid’s arrow – are deftly woven into the story and add a pleasing fantasy element.
“A hard working Cupid can salvage any match! Can’t he?” Gloag keeps you guessing right to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE, love, love the premise for this book—Cupid with a bad aim!

TWT is set at an exclusive girls' boarding school. Cupid's arrow embeds itself in the heroine's desk and, like Excalibur, cannot be removed. It provides a unique plot focus as time after time, hero and heroine, and other school members try to remove it.
The characters are unique and as unalike as black and white. They are so embroiled in the antics of the hero's daughter that they are oblivious to each other's charms for a long while. The story flows smoothly, as does everything by this author. Romance lovers will fall for the hero and heroine long before they fall for each other!

What a fun and clean romance with a great cast of characters, witty dialog and just enough angst between the main characters. Headmistress Tina Blackberry is just following school rules that had been in place for several years. She isn’t targeting Sheila Thomas, but the girl broke the school rules bringing a golden arrow to school. Ryan Thomas is beside himself with his daughter and the various schools she has been expelled from, and now it looks like another one. He will go down there and set things straight. Throw in a Cupid with a bad aim, shooting his arrows of love into the wrong guy and the right girl. The plot kept me captivated with this quick and quirky read. Sometimes Cupid’s targets can have a sweet happily ever after ending.

A Cupid-in-Training intends to shoot Tina Blackberry and Sam Brown with his arrows of love, but Ryan Thomas gets in the way.
Ryan, an irate parent, storms into the headmistress's office. Tina expelled his daughter because she had brought a golden arrow to the school. Ryan demands that Tina reinstate Sheila, but Tina does not back down even in the face of losing her job.
When Tina attempts to hand the valuable arrow to Ryan, the artifact has its own mission and embeds itself in Tina's desk. No one can remove it.
The fun begins in Tina's office and culminates in Rome, where the wrong target becomes the right one.
